Ranchi, January 5, 2024: A day-long celebration of the 131st birth anniversary of Jagadguru Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda was organized at the Ranchi ashram of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS). Yogananda's birth anniversary celebrations began with a morning special group meditation and a discourse on “The Importance of the Guru as a Guide” given by Swami Pavitrananda, followed by Guru Puja and Yagya in the bhajans of Brahmachari Shankarananda and Shambhavananda. The main attraction of the day for the devotees, as well as the people of Ranchi city and surrounding villages, was the Bhandara. This year Bhandara Prasad was served to around 9,000 people. The function concluded with meditation in the evening.
This spiritual institution, founded by Yoganandaji, celebrates his birth anniversary every year with meditation, kirtan and bhandara. Like every year, this year too the Bhandare attracted a lot of local people and other visitors and all those who came to know about it through word of mouth participated in a big way. From around 12 noon, long queues started forming at the gate of the ashram, and hundreds of YSS devotees, in the vast grounds of the ashram, served prasad of khichdi, chutney and laddu to the guests. It continued till late afternoon and around 9,000 people were served Guru Prasad through this Bhandara.
