Government should declare a national holiday on January 3, the birth anniversary of Mata Savitribai Phule: Rajesh Gupta
Ranchi: The picture and statue of Savitribai Phule, who campaigned throughout her life for social reform and women's rights, should be installed in all the schools and offices of the country and the Central Government should declare a holiday on her birthday.
State President of National OBC Morcha, Rajesh Kumar Gupta said the above things after paying tribute.
Today, under the aegis of National OBC Morcha, the birth anniversary of the country's first teacher Mata Savitribai Phule was celebrated at the state office in Harmu, Ranchi. On this occasion, respect was paid by garlanding his portrait.
State President Rajesh Kumar Gupta said after garlanding that despite huge opposition from the society, the first girls' school in the country was opened by Savitribai Phule in 1848. He said that Savitribai Phule, who advocated women's education, established 71 schools for women. And also to protest against child marriage, to oppose the practice of Sati, to oppose baldness of widows, to support remarriage of widows. Mother Savitribai Phule, who established the home and operated the child care home, was not only the first teacher of the country but also a great social reformer, revolutionary and poet.
Those who paid tribute included the names of State Vice President Subedar SN Singh Kushwaha, Santosh Sharma, Girijesh Kumar, Ram Avtar Kashyap, Jagdish Sahu, Karan Kumar Verma, RB Sahay etc.
